Design Team: FOCUS 2016

It’s been a busier week than usual for our Design Team, with a myriad of design events to attend. From The London Design Festival to Decorex International, our designers have scoured every corner of this season’s shows to uncover the latest trends in colour, materials and finishes.

Marble

The use of marbles and natural stone remains a consistent trend. Carrara marble has prevailed as the most popular material, echoing other exhibitions visited this year. Almost all companies exhibiting furniture utilised this trend in their products, in particular Chaplins and Ceccotti Collezioni.

Geometrics

Geometric print was spotted in abundance throughout the show, with hexagons, diamonds and triangles continuing to dominate. Romo displayed a broad spectrum of geometrics in its latest collection.

FOCUS is held at the Design Centre in London’s Chelsea Harbour, and seeks to redefine luxury interiors. Showcasing a range of designers and brands, the six-day event provides an excellent opportunity for the A&D community to discover the latest in the contemporary, luxury interiors market.

Across the show, several key trends were highlighted. Here are our favourites:

Colour

The key colour of the show was blue – in Indigo and Denim (once again tying intoDulux’s Colour of the Year 2017). Designers Guild in particular illustrated this through fabric, wall coverings and interior accessories.

Elsewhere, neutrals, soft pastel shades and warm metallics remained key.
