Inspired by blue as Dulux reveals its 2017 Colour of the Year

From our point of view at Johnson Tiles, we’re always working hard to stay on top of trends, helping to inspire and shape our own future product ranges. Our Design Team, for example, has been at Paris Design Week since Monday, soaking up the sights of key calendar events like Maison & Objet. You can see some of their discoveries on our Instagram feed.

Taking a closer look at Dulux’s Denim Drift, we’ve been inspired by the palette of cool blues, and have been building our own mood boards inside our Tile Lab at our home in Tunstall, Stoke-on-Trent.

Our London materials studio, Material Lab, was once again asked to create a stunning centrepiece for Dulux’s annual exhibition, which was this year held at 33 Fitzroy Square in London. Paying homage to the trends, our design experts picked out the latest materials and surfaces to bring Dulux’s vision to life.

You’ll no doubt have heard about Dulux’s Colour Futures trend forecast today, with the unveiling of the 2017 Colour of the Year.

Simply called ‘Denim Drift’, the calming, atmospheric blue forms the central theme of Dulux’s ‘Life in a New Light’, alongside four complementary trends that “celebrate a new outlook on the simple things that make life worth living”.
