Trend spotting at Heimtextil 2018

This month, our Design Team visited Heimtextil – the largest international trade fair for home and contract fabrics.

Adapt & Assemble

Linking directly to the urban interior trends of contemporary digital living and global nomadic lifestyle, the ‘adapt and assemble’ trend is a mixture of industrial design and Scandinavian minimalism.

Complemented by a stylistic and versatile monochrome finish of bright whites, matt black and subtle greys, the geometric and bold patterned finish accents the trend’s simplicity.

Detailed stitching, laser cutting, layering and woven techniques are additionally incorporated, illustrating artistic flair.

Soft Minimal

Combining a light colour palette of lemon, terracotta and pastel pink with a cool muted urban grey, the soft minimal trend combines subtle quilting and geometric patterns to create a simplistic yet effective design.

Paired with versatile fabrics such as felt, wool and textured linens, the soft minimalism trend adds comfort and warmth.

Urban Oasis

Invite the elegance and delicacy of the season’s finest florals and foliage prints into your project with new leafy profile patterns and urban tones.

Detailed and graceful, this popular design trend features a rich natural palette of dark forest green and deep sages with dusty pink finishes, creating opulence and feelings of luxury. Velvet and metallics, along with sheers, silks and soft linen, are contrasted against restful green and tonal ombres. The urban oasis trend reflects the relaxation and calm found in nature.

Perfect Imperfection

Celebrating traditional craft interiors, the ‘perfect imperfection’ trend is underpinned by an industrial feel. Combining reclaimed wood and a variation of woven and quilted textures, the pairing of natural blues and indigo tones alongside a deep oak finish, adds depth with tactile qualities.

The perfect imperfection’s blend of natural beauty and industrial rawness provides an unpredictable and irregular sense of ‘perfection’.

The event offers young designers, students and start-ups the possibility to showcase their pioneering concepts in interior design.

During the four-day event, we discovered many innovative and contemporary design trends, sure to be popular this year.

Combining the inspiration gathered from the event with our own ideas, we have formed a selection of trends to inspire your next interior scheme.

Relax/Recharge

The relax/recharge trend emphasises the power of colour.

Ombre effects and shades ranging from dark red hues to pink tints are set against a textured finish.

Melancholy blues will set off a relaxing ambience within any residential or commercial setting.
