Johnson Tiles' artist collaborations at DRAF and LDF

It’s an exciting time for Johnson Tiles, with the unveiling of two brand new artist collaborations in London this month.

David David collaboration for The London Design Festival:

Carousel Wallis a 50 sq m tile mural inspired by Islamic geometrics and traditional British design, based on an adaptation of Carousel (2011), the Jameel Prize-nominated artwork by David Saunders. Injecting a dose of colour and pattern to the Exhibition Road tunnel entrance to the V&A from 13-21 September, the installation is sure to be a highlight of The London Design Festival. Nina Beier at DRAF:

Tileablesis a 125m2 mosaic made of porcelain tiles, with each 75cm x 75cm tile individually printed by Johnson Tiles. The patterns were chosen by Beier, and the tiles are intended to explore decorative art whilst being laid loose on the ground to enable the installation to be lifted and changed. The solo exhibition opens on 12 September and runs until 13 December 2014. For more information visit our announcement blog post.

The events are the latest in our continued dedication to partnering with creatively like-minded artists and designers. Since collaborating with textile artist and colour expert Ptolemy Mann back in May to create Prismatic Landscape, exhibited during Clerkenwell Design Week 2014, we have worked closely with artists such as Nina Beier and David Saunders to combine our products with the artistic expertise to create spectacular exhibits.

The first is the opening of artist Nina Beier’s exhibition on 12 September, at the David Roberts Art Foundation in Camden. The second is the unveiling of Carousel Wall – a tile mural designed in collaboration with London design studio David David, to cover the Exhibition Road tunnel entrance to the V&A as part of The London Design Festival from 13 September.
