Design Team: WantedDesign & ICFF – NYCxDesign

Mixing materials was again a key trend spotted frequently. Inexo showcased tables with a mix of marble, wood and grey colour blocking to create a tactile quality of contrasts.

At ICFF, copper proved popular, set against solid colours and marbles.

Trends

Lighting was very prominent throughout both shows with a focus on shape and form, which made for stunning sculptural pieces. Ango exhibited a series of lights using various materials to create geometric patterns.

Glass and coloured plastic were also prominent materials used throughout, seen on pieces from lighting to tabletop surfaces.

Pattern

At ICFF, Margo Selby showcased a collection of fabrics in eye-catching patterns.

Colour

At WantedDesign, Issey Miyake provided a stellar example of this, using soft pastels mixed with deep tones to create a dramatic contrast.

ICFF (14-17 May 2016), which is held at the Javits Centre, showcases high-end and contemporary designs in the fields of furniture, seating, flooring, carpets and wall coverings.

Our Design Team visited both events, highlighting the key trends from the range of international designers on show. Here’s what they found…
