Pushing Prismatics into the 3D realm with Camilla Webb Carter

On discussing the initial brief, we introduced Camilla to our Prismatics range - the largest collection of plain coloured wall tiles with over 90 different colours, available in the UK. Using the collection as inspiration, Camilla created two separate pieces – one using her ‘Up Down’ product, the other with ‘Pyramid’.

Once the designs were finalised, the installations began their journey at our state-of-the-art factory here in Stoke-on-Trent, where individual ceramic pieces were glazed and then fired in our kiln. Camilla then took the finished product to complete the artworks. They’re now proudly on display at Material Lab, our design resource studio on Great Titchfield Street. So next time you’re in the area, pop down to take a look – then tell us which artwork is your favourite.

When lurking around the House of Detention at Clerkenwell Design Week earlier this year, our Creative Director Darren Clanford spotted some stunning 3D pieces by ceramic artist Camilla Webb Carter. He loved them so much; he approached her and asked whether she’d like to collaborate with Johnson Tiles to create some bespoke pieces for Material Lab in London.
