Behind-the-scenes: How to shoot showstopping product photography

Tim says: “We’ve worked closely with Darren for many years now. It’s evolved into a collaborative effort where we interpret and bring to life his vision for the brand.

“We wanted to showcase the versatility of the Johnson Tiles product range and ignite consumer imagination. To achieve this we curated groups of complementary tiles and photographed them overhead with simple props which hint at their potential end use.”

Darren says: “With this photography project, our aim was to demonstrate the balance of practicality, high quality manufacturing and serious style credentials associated with Johnson Tiles products.

“Our offering covers a wide range of commercial and residential situations, whether you’re seeking a vibrant splashback for a kitchen, or subtle, naturally-inspired flooring for a restaurant, we’ve got product to suit all manner of creative visions.

“Through these three images, we compare and contrast different tints and shades, textural effects and shapes to offer an injection of inspiration to your upcoming projects.”

With this in mind, we wanted to create a series of photography that truly highlights the amount of choice on offer. Working in collaboration with top photographer Tim Ainsworth, Johnson Tiles’ Creative Director, Darren Clanford, curated three sets of product to cover bathroom, kitchen and living inspiration.
