Architectural City Guide: Birmingham

For those that follow our social media accounts, you’ll be aware that our Design Team is frequently on the road – seeking out inspiration wherever it can be found, whether that be in the original details of a wooden window frame, or the silhouette of a rooftop set against the sky.

Train Station: Visitors coming into the city via its station are met with creativity upon arrival, through striking signage, such as this.

This month, our designer Amy Pears visited the city of Birmingham, to explore its stunning architecture – both old and new. In Birmingham, creativity is plentiful, from the curved, bubble-wrapped exterior of the city's famous Bullring to the elegant neo-gothic aspects of St Philip's Cathedral – we could think of no better place to kick off our Architectural City Guides. Here are just some of Amy’s highlights…

Art Museum: This stunning building boasts mosaic patterns on its ceiling.
Bullring: The famous Bullring bubble design is eye-catching and contemporary.
Churches: Full of original, historic features, these beautiful churches can be spotted throughout the city.
City Council House: We were impressed with the stunning detail of this building.
Library: Filled with striking graphical patterns.
School of Art: Gorgeous tile patterns, alongside interesting window features.
Town Centre: Lovely textures on the buildings, and colours of natural stone.
