Interior trends for 2016: Bringing the outdoors in

Bold colour scheme

To provide a twist on the more traditional elements of the trend, adding a burst of bright colour to an otherwise neutral scheme can create additional interest. Our Prismatics range offers a rainbow of bold options, and is available in five sizes including square and hexagonal shapes. Try Jungle, Lagoon or Peacock for a bolder take on natural green.

Mixing textures

Alongside a complementary colour scheme, creating textural combinations is key to this trend. Juxtaposing rough textures against smooth finishes creates a depth that’s reminiscent of nature. Sawn, our contemporary range of woodgrain effect tiles, incorporates both the sophistication and delicate finish of natural oak in porcelain. Pair with concrete to complete the look.

Tiled flooring

One staple element of the ‘outdoors in’ trend is tiled flooring, in neutral tones and a natural finish. Our recently launched Artisan range comprises porcelain tiles in four sizes, whilst offering numerous layout options. Replicating the natural qualities of oak, the matt finish provides an alternative to wooden flooring.

‘Bringing the outdoors in’ is a trend that has been spotted at design shows and exhibitions on an international scale by our Design Team, and one that takes prominence amongst designers and brands alike in their upcoming SS16 collections.

Organic and raw materials take centre stage, with a neutral colour palette of earthy tones. Adventure and exploration are key elements, and alongside the aesthetics, sustainability plays a major role in the popularity of the trend.
