Johnson Tiles on track for art mural at Hampstead Heath
Johnson Tiles has joined forces with renowned artist Clare Woods to produce a bespoke art mural at London's Hampstead Heath railway station. ‘Evenings' Hill' is a permanent artwork commissioned through the London Overground Public Art Programme by TfL London Rail. The artwork was initially produced as a watercolour painting before being transferred via our very own Artile process onto 1,500 tiles. Each tile was then individually referenced before they were fitted onto a 60m2 wall at one of the station's platforms. Clare Woods, who lives and works in Herefordshire, said: “The inspiration behind the painting was the pools of Hampstead Heath, which had remained a constant throughout times of rapid urban development. I wanted to get a feel of the Heath in my work – this open space in the heart of a city.” David Talbot, Contracts Marketing Manager for Johnson Tiles, said: “Clare is currently working closely with us on a number of exciting projects. She specialises in largescale abstract works and produces her designs specifically for these types of projects to suit the tile media. Her artworks have been widely exhibited across the UK, the rest of Europe and in America. We're thrilled to be working alongside such a talented artist.” For more information on London Overground's art programme and Clare Woods, visit Modus Operandi's website at www.modusoperandi-art.co.uk.

Johnson Tiles at London Fashion Week
An unlikely place to see ceramic tiles, but Ada Zandition showed just how versatile a product they can be by incorporating them into jewellry for her Spring/Summer 2011 collection. The designs were showcased at the OnOff exhibition in Bloomsbury, London during London Fashion Week.  Ada's illustrations were transfered to Artiles which were then water-jet cut into triangles in keeping with the Pyramid theme of her range, producing fantastic results.  For more information on Ada visit www.adaz.co.uk.  For more information on artile click here.
